Train suicide mom was pregnant

LONDON
A mother who leapt in front of a 100mph train with her two small children was pregnant with her third, it was reported. Navjeet Sidhu, 27, jumped to her death in front of a Heathrow Express train at Southall station in west London on Wednesday clutching her five-year-old daughter Simran and 23-month-old son Aman.

Her husband Manjit arrived at the station around the time of the tragedy, but it was not clear whether he saw his wife jumping off the platform. Mrs Sidhu, whose marriage was believed to have been in trouble, reportedly told neighbours just weeks before her death that she was four months pregnant.

One neighbour, who was not named, told the Sunday Telegraph: “It was a sunny day while I was watching our children play that she told me.” “But you would never have been able to tell. She was still very slim and slender.” A spokesman for British Transport police was unable to confirm the claim. The newspaper also reported that Mr Sidhu, frantic about his wife and children’s whereabouts, spotted them at the station but was too late to save them.

He reportedly saw them step off the platform. Last night a police source said: “It is possible, he was certainly around at the time, he was certainly at the station then or very soon afterwards.”
