A Romanian man who stole seven chickens from a neighbour was surprised to find he was on Interpol’s most wanted list. The 51-year-old chicken thief, from Iasi in eastern Romania, who is unnamed for legal reasons, had left the country four years ago. But when he returned to visit family he was told by border guards he had been identified from an Interpol list of dangerous fugitives — for stealing chickens from his neighbour’s farm before he left. Police spokesman Serban Pittner said: "He was a wanted man for four years.” The international chicken thief has been sentenced to three and a half years in jail.
